Night Stands that were passed down get a new look for the Bedroom

Larry said that his Mother antiqued these Night Stands in the 70s and so now that they are in the family and getting old. We thought we would give them some new life and add some new features to them while we were at it.

This is the start of the re-vamping process. We will be stripping them down to the original stain and finish. Then we are going to stain them 2 times as we have to match the new bedroom furniture is not green and the new furniture has a 2 colors of stain.
Here's the before we started picture.
The I stripped the tops some to see what was under the wonderful green paint.
Wow it's real wood !!! not partial board....definitely a plus.
Now we know it is worth it to bring them back for the dead.

These pictures tell the story. The stripping is done on one stand and the first coat of stain applied and drying.
Here are a couple videos.

It was very windy out when I took these.

Bridge over the Creek Lars

This is a video of a landscape project that I have done for a friend over the past few years and recently we built a bridge over a dry creek. This was done for better access to the lawn mower and also to get over the Creek.
It was fun to build and works well.
Thanks Larry,

Here are a few still shots of the Bridge I like.

The New Dry Stack Rock is Fnished

The New Dry stack York Lime stone wall was finished this saturday April 30th. There is nothing harder to do than to dry stack a stone that is made to have grouting between. But when it is finished the look is spectacular and has the real feeling of Dry Stack Lime Stone.
The weather didn't do much for getting it done quicker, most of the time it rained and we set a record for April. I think that this newest addition to the front of Larry's home just set off the look we were trying to get. It helped to bring out the trellis and tie in the rest of the house with the garage.
We will be doing some changing of some of the landscaping look do to the winds that occur out in Skyline. The bark we put in originally got blown around into the lava rock and we lost some of the detail because of this. So we are going to do some additional drain rock placement which will also keep the deer from walking over everything. The deer don't like the drain rock to walk on as it is to unstable to their feet.
Here is a picture of it before the rock work was installed and the landscaping was done.

Here's a before picture of the deck wall.
Here is the picture after....
Here's a Picture of the my friend Larry standing in front of the newly finished rock wall.

Rock Set ting April 7th First day of good weather in a while

We have had some rain recently, to say the least. The plants love it for sure, everything is popping out looking for the Sun like we are. I want to set rock and Larry wants to Golf with out a rain coat.
We got a few more set today and it's starting to take on it's appearance of dry stacked Lime Stone.
Weather permitting I'll get another day like today in tomorrow.
Here's a few more pictures to look at.

There's something I really like about this Trellis not that I built it, but that is really adds to the front of this home and with the rock behind it make it really fit into the look of this home.

Spring Brings another nice day

Setting rock when it's a dry fit look can be frustrating at times but the overall look is more realistic to how lime stone was used to make walls. The mortar look to me always is a dead giveaway to being cultured stone as 9 times out of 10 this is how you see it.

Here are a few pictures to check out as the puzzle continues.

First Full Day of Spring

Well here we are the first full day of spring and is a little to wet to install rock. We got a start on it this last Saturday, lay out some rock that was in the 10 boxes delivered and put of a few corner stone. The very corner stone was some of the last rock left over from the garage we had done last year. We are hoping the weather will give us some kind of break tomorrow to get some more installed.
Here's were a few pictures taken.

There has been a water problem on the driveway do to the build up of tree needles, dirt and pine cones. So we dug it out and put some rocks along side the area where the water had been running. Then Larry shoveled the excess dirt in the low spot to help bring it up.

Wire Mesh Installation

Galvanized wire mesh goes over the tar paper before the scratch coat of mortar mix can be applied. This creates a concrete surface to install the stone on.
